2011 was a very momentous year for the musical industry. The industry produced many different types of songs ranging from angry breakup songs to sappy love songs. Even though there were many incredible songs read on to find out which songs the Padua 360 staff thought came out on top.
10. “Raise Your Glass” by Pink- This song is a toast to people who are different. Pink encourages us to be yourself and embrace your inner “freak.”
9. “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5- Maroon 5’s lead singer, Adam Levine, encourages us to dance like no one is watching, like Mick Jagger even though no one could ever compare to his unique “moves,” but that’s kind of the point.
8. “Someone Like You” by Adele- Adele communicates her broken heart about a lost love leaving her and moving on with his life. She uses some of the lessons that he taught her to create her meaningful lyrics. This song inspires people with broken hearts that there is always something better out there.
7. “Perfect” by Pink- Perfection is impossible. Pink tells us through her lyrics that making mistakes are normal. Imperfection is beautiful.
6. “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga- Lady Gaga tells her “little monsters” that it’s okay to be different and to accept your differences. After all, “baby you were born this way!”
5. “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars- Bruno Mars tells us that we should never change ourselves in order to be in a relationship. If the other person really loves you then they will accept you for who you are and all of your flaws. Just like the story behind the pink shoes that Mrs. Mann told us.
4. “E.T.” by Katy Perry (featuring Kanye West) – This catchy tune conveys the statement that love is truly blind.
3. “Firework” by Katy Perry- Katy Perry expresses her view on the world’s high standards in society to be perfect. Stay true to who you are and “you’ll shoot across the sky!”
2. “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO- This song makes us want to get up and “shuffle” everyday!
1. “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele- Kick started Adele’s career. Stayed on top of various music charts for over nine months. It has been used on various TV shows including Glee and Gossip Girl. This sums up Adele’s pain and anger toward her ex-boyfriend who destroyed their relationship.
