One Direction is a “boy band,”consisting of five young men: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, their ages ranging from 18-20 years old. They originally auditioned for the United Kingdom’s X-Factor, but were rejected in the X-Factor’s “boot camp” and put in a band together. They made it to the finale and came in third place.
A year later, they released their first album in the UK entitled “Up All Night.” The original album has 13 songs, and the deluxe yearbook edition of the album has two exclusive tracks: “Stand Up” and “Moments.” Whenever you listen to their songs, you can sense that they love what they do. Their songs have the classic, upbeat feel of pop-songs. On the album, the pattern of the song list is consistent, going from a fun, party song to a slow, sensitive song. For example, the third track, “One Thing,” is a cheery song and the fourth track, More Than This, is slower and more meaningful. This may sound odd, but it definitely works. The album has several more emotional songs, including “I Wish” and “Moments,” that may make you a little teary-eyed. Their first song on the album, “What Makes You Beautiful,” won a BRIT Award for Best British Single. Although they are not very popular in America yet, their CD comes out on March 13, 2012. They opened Big Time Rush’s “Better With U” Tour in the beginning of 2012.
