Foster the People, an American indie band from California went viral last summer with their hit “Pumped Up Kicks.” Mark Foster, lead singer of Foster People, released “Pumped Up Kicks” in early 2010 and later signed a record deal in May 2010. By July of 2011, “Pumped Up Kicks” topped the charts reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Their debut album, Torches, has ten tracks that each have a unique electro-indie sound. After listening to the album, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 stars. Each song has a catchy beat and lyrics with a deeper meaning that kept me listening for more. Some of my favorites on the album were “Call it what you want,” and “I would do anything for you.” I would recommend listening to the acoustic version of “Pumped up Kicks,” which is available on itunes.
