The Hussian School of Art has announced its award winners for their annual high school poster contest. The theme this year was “Portmanteau”, defined as a word or morpheme whose spelling and meaning are derived from a blending of two or more words together.
Many girls from Padua Academy were awarded and recognized by the Hussian School of Art. Bianca Lacay took Second Place for her work “Cyborg”. Bianca will be awarded $100 and a full scholarship to Hussian’s summer workshop. The following received Honorable Mention for their works; Grace Hunsinger for “Brunch”, Nicole Keefe for “Blog”, Lisa Luck for “Faction”, Marissa Nihill for “Seascape”, and Kristin Saska for “Muppet”. Students who received Honorable Mention will receive a partial scholarship to the summer workshop. Their work will also be on exhibit at Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia. Hannah Donovan and Deanna Wingel received a certificate of Merit for their works “Croissandwich” and “Cyberpunk”.
There will be an awards reception on March 30 for all the recognized students. All of their beautiful entries are also currently on display in the Padua Café.
