One Direction’s new album, Take Me Home, was released on November 13, 2012. 540,000 copies of the album were sold just within the first week, making it the third largest debut sale of 2012, behind Taylor Swift’s Red and Mumford and Sons’ Babel.
The band One Direction includes four British boys and one Irish boy. Their names are Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan. They were brought together by Simon Cowell when they auditioned individually for X Factor. They didn’t know each other previously, but now they have become a very successful boy band across the globe.
Take Me Home features a total of 17 songs. Some of the favorites on the album are “Live While We’re Young,” “Little Things,” and “Heart Attack,” just to name a few. The style of the album is mainly pop with slight pop- rock influences. The band members, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne, have said that this album is better than the first album, Up All Night. They said that they were able to get a better feel for the songs they wanted on the album and were more confident than the first time.
Critics have said that Take Me Home features a wider range of harmonies and and styles than Up All Night. Each of the boys have a fair share of solos on Take Me Home, and are progressing further. It was said that you could see that they wrote their songs based off of their own personal experiences. “I think that Take Me Home is a better album than Up All Night. I feel like Take Me Home has more of a variety in songs. The songs are very catchy and have a fun, upbeat tempo,” says Gwendolyn Bugglin- Borer, a student at Padua Academy.
Take Me Home has shown us how far One Direction has come since the debut of their first album. They are progressing further and further ahead. One Direction continues to be great entertainers and musicians.
