Since May, British singer-songwriter Marina and the Diamonds has been touring across the country supporting her second album, Electra Heart, for the Lonely Hearts Club Tour. On December 4th, dozens of fans waited to enter the Union Transfer Center in Philadelphia to see Marina and the Diamonds perform her hit songs, including “Primadonna,” “Homewrecker,” “Teen Idle,” and “How to be a Heartbreaker.”
The show began with the opening act, Icona Pop, well known for featuring in the song “Mind Your Manners” by Chiddy Bang. The DJ duo of Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt sang a few of their songs, such as “I Love It” and “Sun Goes Down,” and danced around the stage pumping up the crowd before Marina performed.
After waiting in line for over four hours, sophomore Alexus Jordan was in the second row to the general admission concert. “I thought the concert was brilliant,” Alexus said, “Marina was stunning and sounds beautiful live!” Along with the hundreds of fans in the crowd, Alexus had a phenomenal time at the concert and would love to go to another one of her shows.
Despite Marina and the Diamonds being an underrated singer, she is surely on her way to becoming a rising pop sensation. I highly recommended that you listen to her music and see her in live in concert if you get the chance!
