A Glimpse at Catching Fire

At last, the suspenseful, imaginative, and immensely popular movie and book series The Hunger Games has announced a release date for the second movie Catching Fire. On November 22, people of all ages will partake in the gripping endeavor between protagonists Peeta, Gale, and Katniss.

Jennifer Lawrence plays the remarkable character of Katniss Everdeen, who is described by Karen Valby of Entertainment Weekly as the “reluctant heroine of a blighted nation.” In the previous movie, Katniss takes her sister’s place as the chosen one to defeat each of her opponents in various battles by fighting until death. Yet, against the precepts of the games, both she and her friend Peeta survive.

In this new addition, director Francis Lawrence will aspire to surpass the $400 million earned in the U.S. alone from the original in 2012. New characters have been added to the interesting mix of costars including Jena Malone and Sam Claflin. Also, Plutarch Heavensbee becomes a central character as the new ruler of the arena and “Gamemaker,” says Valby.

Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, recalls his time on set by stating, “I don’t expect to ever experience the closeness I feel with these people on any other movie.” His emotions with the cast are exemplified throughout the movie and captures diverse audiences. When senior Alyssa M. pondered why she is so excited for the next movie, she stated, “The first one just leaves you on a cliff-hanger and I just cannot wait to see what will happen next!”
