A New Age for the Marvel Franchise’s Avengers

On May 1st, one of the most anticipated movies for the summer, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, was released. So far, the movie has done exceptionally well, getting a score of 8.3/10 on IMDb. It may seem far-fetched for the Avengers, but action isn’t the only thing in this movie! The Avengers not only had action, but suspense and even romance! Though that’s not the plot for the movie.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron centers around how Tony Stark created a robot for peace, Ultron, but things quickly turn haywire. Not only is Ultron a threat, but the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are dangerous as well. Ultron not only wants to destroy the Avengers, he is convinced that he needs to end the human race as well, leaving only metal. This causes obvious friction between the team as they start to question what they really know about each other, let alone themselves.

Let’s not forget that the original team is back again with Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) all joining the big screen as one. Our antagonists this time are Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and James Spader as Ultron. With the performance of all these great actors, I knew it was going to be an amazing movie.

When asked on her opinion about the movie, Glennamarie Rivers (‘18) says, “I enjoyed watching the characters transform from being strangers to friends from the first and second movie.” I agree with Glennamarie, the movie does have a lot of character development.  I would tell you more, but you’ll have to see it before it leaves the big screen!
