Justin Bieber’s New Album

After a two year break from writing music and performing live, Justin Bieber recently came out with a new album. Purpose, his fourth album, was released Friday, November 13th. Prior to his album release, Bieber released a few singles with music videos to promote the new album. Purpose hit the top of the charts its first week and Justin Bieber is currently leading the top 100 charts.

The first single released was, “Where R U Now.” This song was even more popular on the charts and received more attention when the Grammy winning a capella group, Pentatonix, made a cover of the song. “What Do U Mean,” was the next single released and was bought by thousands of fans the day it came out.  “Sorry” was the last single released before the album. The music video for “Sorry” features all girl dancers and has 146,928,771 views.

This new album’s genre is pop, like his first three. Junior Camila Moreno says, “I like the overall sound of this album. It sounds different than the others he’s made so far because I feel like it sounds more mature.” Camila is not the only one to have this opinion of Justin Bieber having a more mature sound. Junior Brooke Stoupa agrees with Camila.

Sophomore Annie Bohnenberger says, “I was skeptical of this album coming out at first because he hasn’t come out with any new music in years, but when the first few singles came out I really liked them. I was surprised that I liked them because I was never really a Justin Bieber fan when I was younger and when he was popular.” Cat Bohnenberger, a sophomore, offers a different point of view, “I think that some songs are really good but I thought it was rude that he would release it the same day as One Direction’s new album. If I had to pick between who had the better album, it’s One Direction hands down.” Purpose has been very successful and has allowed Justin Bieber to climb back to the top of the charts.
