Big Box of Love

Padua Academy is known for instilling the values of service, spirituality, scholarship and sisterhood within each of its students. However, the label of sisterhood has a deeper meaning than appearing on a banner within our school. Senior Sarah T. says “The students go up and beyond by living the school’s mission of sisterhood. When one of us laugh, we all laugh”. The students call the small, one block building the “big box of love” due to the bonds they have formed with their peers in the school community. While the origins of the phrase “box of love” is a mystery, it does not hinder its students from living out its meaning. “It may seem like a small building, but there are so many friendships and memories everyone has had with each other that it gives off the sense of a bigger community”, Sarah T. says.

Padua’s sisterhood is demonstrated in many activities such as the big sister-little sister program, in which every senior and freshmen spend time together in order to help the freshmen transition into high school. “The program is actually really fun. They do a great job to make sure that you and your little sister have similar interests”, Sarah T. says. “It definitely teaches the freshmen early on what our school stands for and what we hope for them to accomplish as a new class”.
