The young women at Padua Academy have a variety of amusing talents, fascinating gifts, and inspiring stories. Padua 360 took the time to hear a few of their individual stories and share them with you.
Padua Academy can be challenging to the best of students at times, but Sarah Capparuccini, a freshman at Padua, has learned to effectively manage her time and has found a delicate balance between sports and schoolwork.
Being an athlete, Sarah understands the daily effort needed to keep a high GPA and still be alert and active at practice. “When I played basketball, I would usually get home around eight at night, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to work on my school work and still get enough sleep.” She could not stress time-management enough when asked how she manages to keep up with the hectic pace of her life. Flex time, like for most Padua students, gives Sarah the opportunity to complete most of her homework and study for tests, “I don’t know where I would be without flex. There’s not one day that I’m not in Homework haven or talking to teachers.”
Aside from school and sports, Sarah still finds time during her weekends to volunteer at various places and help her community. “I volunteer whenever there is an opportunity. Most recently I fed the homeless at a shelter.” Currently, Sarah has 25 volunteer hours, and is planning to participate in Global Youth Service Day.
When asked what message she would want to get out to girls currently enrolled or planning to enroll at Padua, Sarah responded, “ It would definitely be to just focus on your schoolwork and manage your time. Also, try to keep your priorities straight. It’s not good to miss practice, but if you have too many tests or papers due the next day, it would be a good choice to stay home and get your work done. But all that can be avoided if you manage your time correctly. So the biggest message I would like to get across would be time management.”
