On Saturday, October 15th, the dance team surprised the audience with the future faces of Padua; the Baby Pandas! Just as the crowd expected another performance by the dance team, one by one, the Baby Pandas quickly took over the dance floor with great confidence.
With their black skirts and black and yellow knee socks, there was nothing about these outfits that did not scream “attitude.” “It was amazing to see how strong they are at their age. After seeing what they can bring to the floor, it makes me wonder what they will look like when they are older, and possibly the future team members,” says PDT member, Erin Wendelberg ’14.
After the Baby Pandas danced half-way through the song, the Padua Dance Team moved out onto the court to accompany the miniature dancers. Once the music ended, flashing lights from the cameras lit up the gym and the audience jumped up and applauded the girls. The dance team and Baby Pandas started to disperse their way off of the court, where they left the crowd cheering and wanting more. “It was truly an accomplishment to see the final product. Not only that, but the camaraderie amongst PDT and the Baby Pandas was also a nice touch to the experience. As young dancers, they look up to PDT as their mentors, which will in the long run help strengthen their confidence and performance,” says Coach Tori.
The dance team loved to see how proud the mini-Pandas were after the performance. It was both an honor and an achievement for both the dance team and Baby Pandas.
