Padua Academy’s brother school Salesianum has been very successful this year with their wrestling team, but where would they be without their managers? The managers take on various tasks to help keep the team organized such as mopping the floors, keeping track of score, running the concession stand, and also selling tickets. The managers help fund raise for a new wrestling room by selling raffle tickets for various prizes. At practices the managers do all sorts of work ranging from paperwork to keeping time while the guys wrestle. When asked what kind of exciting events happen as a manager, Lauren DiMondo responded with, “We get to go to the away meets which is really fun and we also get to attend their banquets and award ceremonies. We also receive the wrestling gear such as sweatshirts and sweatpants.” Being a manager can be time consuming having to attend practices and meets two to three days a week and once every other weekend from November to February. At practices anything can be worn, but to matches the wrestling gear is to be worn and at a home the manager uniform is to be worn. Sandy Luna was asked, “How did you get into being a wrestling manager?” She responded with, “My godmother was in charge of the wrestling team so I thought it would be interesting to join.” Both Sandy and Lauren agree that being a manager for an all male team does not really make a difference because it is really fun and all of the guys are really nice. The students who help to keep the team organized are:
Alex Barba
Emily Deater
Lauren DiMondo
Rebecca Kilmon
Sandy Luna
Kristin Lynch
Jessica Kibblehouse
Kristin Saksa
Jenna Stoneberger
