2014 Major League Baseball Season Starts

It was a busy offseason for Major League Baseball. There were rule changes, stadium deals, free agent signings, a new drug agreement, and an announcement from a legend that this season would be his last. So now that winter is over and baseball is back, let’s hope for a great year full of exciting games.This year the Major League Baseball season started on March 22nd in Sydney, Australia, between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The North American part of the season started on March 30 and will end on September 28.The Major League Baseball All-Star Game’s 85th edition will be held on July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, home of the Minnesota Twins. The winning league will receive home-field advantage during the World Series. That is a tradition that has happened since the 2003 season. This year the Houston Astros will host the Civil Rights Game on May 30 at Minute Maid Park. They will play host to the Baltimore Orioles. This is also the final season of Bud Selig as the Commissioner of Baseball. Selig served as the Executive Council Chairman from 1992 to 1998, acting as the commissioner, and then was appointed as the official commissioner in 1998.
