Padua has always had a lot of sports and activities to offer it’s students. There are great teams that are apart of this school, and everyone enjoys seeing their fellow classmates compete. This year, Padua has added a lacrosse team. Everyone is excited about what this new sport has to offer. The team has just begun conditioning, and is getting ready to start practicing and preparing for future games.

Since this is Padua’s first lacrosse team, the pre-season conditioning that players are undergoing is very important. This helps prepare the players for the movements of the game. Sophomore Lily C. say, “We perform high intensity circuit training workouts, which focus on different muscle groups essential to the game of lacrosse.” She then explained how the other aspects of their training focuses on footwork, and how it helps players to adapt to any situation and move around the field quickly.

In order to play lacrosse, it is important to learn certain footwork that goes along with the game. You need to be on the balls of your feet at all times, ready for whatever is going to happen on the field. Lily C. explains, “We do many exercises where we practice changing direction quickly and breaking down your steps.”

The lacrosse team looks very promising. The players are already working very hard with their preseason conditioning, and will certainly be ready to play the game when the time comes. They are growing stronger and training themselves to play the game. Padua can’t wait to watch them play!
