On Friday March 2, Padua Academy hosted its annual Blue Gold Bingo Night. The doors opened at 5:30, so people could come inside and buy tickets, and Bingo started at 6:00. Bingo Night is one of Padua’s fundraisers for the Blue-Gold DFRC program. The theme was Rodeo, and all of the members of Blue Gold Activity were dressed up to support the theme. Because of the Western Rodeo theme, members of Blue Gold planned a Corn-Eating competition and recruited people to enter the competition throughout the evening. Twenty four people entered in twelve pairs of two. With a wide variety of entrees, from Padua students and Salesianum students, to children of faculty, it was a close call. The winners ended up being a pair of Sallies boys, who managed to finish their corn first.
Other than Bingo, there were many other activities and performances to entertain the guests attending Bingo Night. When people bought tickets at the door they were also given raffle tickets. Their were several raffle baskets that were given away at the end of the night, a few of them including: a tie dye basket, two prom tickets, a Sephora basket, a tanning basket, a Phillie’s basket, and several more great prizes. The winners of Bingo were also given prizes, such as gift cards to Wawa. For the younger crowd attending Bingo Night, there was a Kid’s Corner where they were able to color, do arts and crafts, and play games. Returning from years past, Olympiad Gymnastics squad gave a wonderful performance in which they flipped, tumbled and jumped into the air, earning resounding applause from the crowd. After all the excitement from Olympiad Gymnastics, Bingo continued. There were multiple winners, which included some of Padua’s very own students. In addition to Bingo winners, Padua also provided entertainment from our student body. The Born Sisters, senior and freshman Kristen and Kara Zagorski, performed with the rest of their band. Their performance was a big success. In addition to The Born Sisters, Padua Dance Team performed one of their dance routines. As usual, they performed wonderfully. Overall the night was a lot of fun and a huge success for the Blue Gold activity.
