Padua Academy’s Model United Nations activity is run by history teacher, Mrs. Hughes. The students who are involved in Model United Nations are:
- Freshman Alexia Nebrao, Alexus Jordan, Anna Smith, Chloe Mortenson, Kelly Maurer, Lauren Davis, and Maiya Dendy,
- Junior Madelyn Ray
- Seniors Devon Bartholf and Sarah Olsen.
This past December, Padua’s Model UN participated in the Twenty-Fifth Annual Delaware Model United Nations Conference, hosted by Salesianum School. The other schools in participation included Father Judge High School, Charter School of Wilmington, Archmere Academy, Avon Grove High School, Saint Thomas Moore Academy, Saint Mark’s High School, and Delaware Military Academy. The topics for conference included the Admission of Palestine to the United Nations, Human Rights Violations in Equatorial Guinea, the killing of Osama bin Laden, and the famine in North Africa.
Padua’s Model UN also participated in Model NATO in January. Model NATO was held at Father Judge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and it is a regional organization which only deals with security and military defense.
Padua’s Model UN will be hosting the Tenth Padua Model United Nations Conference on March 17 right here at Padua Academy.
