As you may have noticed, the acronym, YOLO, is becoming widely known and used in everyday conversation. YOLO stands for “You Only Live Once.” It comes from Drake’s song “The Motto.” There are even twitter accounts that are dedicated to YOLO jokes. Many people have been getting annoyed with the term because some people use it constantly, even when the term seems irrelevant. Some teachers at Padua use the phrase, like Mr. Pellegrini and Mr. Cross. Emily Hayes (‘15) uses YOLO everyday. She said that she uses it so often because it applies to a lot of things that she does. “People get annoyed whenever I use YOLO, but they are just jealous because they have nothing to say it for,” Emily said.
You can use YOLO in countless situation, including:
- Calling McDonald’s and making reservations.
- Wearing a neon dress to a Black & White Ball.
- Going to Walmart and screaming “Swiper no swiping!” at anyone who tries to buy something.
- Wearing ankle socks with your man pants.
Even though the acronym YOLO may get on some people’s nerves, it is certainly applicable to many situations in Padua girls’ lives.
