The freshmen class was assigned to perform a dance for their gym project. There were four girls to a group, each with a different genre of dance. The different genres were cultural, musical, hip hop, disco, ballroom, country, and swing dance. Each group had to cheorograph a dance and provide a brief history of their assigned dance. Each dance had to be at least two and half minutes long and have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Ms. DiSabitino said, “dance is aerobic and a good source for lifetime fitness because you don’t realize you’re exercising and you’re constantly moving.” Sarah Wiley (‘15) liked the dance unit because it “brought together teamwork and creativity to perform a fun dance.” She also said that it was fun to perform and dress up. Altogether, the freshman gym classes enjoyed the project because it allowed them to learn about different types of dance while having fun at the same time.
