Senior Prom: A great ending to a new beginning

Padua seniors joined together at their senior prom for one of their last rendezvous.  Located at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, seniors made lasting impressions amongst family, friends, and the participating chaperones from Padua.  Besides the beautiful gowns, gorgeous hair, and fabulous makeup, there was something more important for the seniors to take away from this memorable night.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., stretch limos, hummers, and other vehicles rolled up in front of the Chase Center.  Slowly moving down the assembly line to greet their dates to chaperones, the girls prepared themselves for their debut appearance.  Once settled, dinner began at 8:00 p.m., which was presented in a buffet-styled catering.  For the most past, the girls and their dates enjoyed the food, which included grilled chicken, steak, salad, stuffing, green beans topped with an alfredo sauce, pasta, bread biscuits, and macaroni and cheese.  There was also optional desserts laid out on the dessert table after dinner.

At 9:00 p.m., the dancing finally began.  At most dances, however, students are used to dancing for all four hours.  But according to senior Jess Peel, “I think it was much better to have dancing last only two hours.  Four hours just always drags on forever. So by the end, two hours of dancing seemed like the perfect amount.”  By 11:00 p.m., seniors received gift bags from the chaperones, which were small, gold and navy blue bags labeled, “Padua Academy Prom 2012.”  Inside the bags was a plastic cup and a pair of sunglasses.

After Prom, beginning at 11:30 p.m., was at the PAL Center in Hockessin, Delaware.  Seniors and their dates received an After Prom t-shirt upon arrival, which had “Pandas in Paris” on the front.  Clearly by this and the huge L’Arc de Triomphe entrance, we knew that this was a France-styled theme.  There were grills set up along the hallway with “French” chefs wearing berets.  The chefs made omelettes for those who were hungry, as there was also different croissant sandwiches, cheeses, fruits, snacks, and desserts set up.  Inside the gym, there was a blow-up slide, obstacle-race, jousting moon bounce, and a volleyball moon bounce.  Senior Nora Culloty commented on the games, saying, “We all had a lot of fun, except I don’t think anyone walked out uninjured!”  Aside from the scrapes and burns the moon bounces left on some people, there was also more mellow activities like the caricature artists, a photobooth, and card games.  Finally after a dragging three hour After Prom, Prom night came to an end. We hired rental cars after checking limo prices tampa for transportation.

Although seniors already feel the overwhelming waves of nostalgia, they all can look back at a great night to remember.  Senior Marykate McGurk commented, “If I could rate this Prom, I would give it 11 out of 10 stars. It was seriously the best time our high school career, and it was a great ending to a new beginning.”  Now that Prom season is rolling away for the last time for seniors, they look forward to white dress day, baccalaureate mass, and graduation.  Congratulations class of 2012, you did it!
