College Application Camp

The guidance office started a new program this year for college applications. From August 11 to 15, rising seniors are able to attend a “camp” for applying to colleges early. Students were sent an email over the summer to schedule a time to meet with their guidance counselors and begin the strenuous application process. The students were also provided with donuts and bagels for a snack.

Director of guidance, Mr. Lang, was on hand to help the proactive students looking to lessen their stress levels for senior year. He expressed the importance of the Common App and Naviance and explained the difference between “safe” and “reach” schools.

Anna Przywara (’15) says, “It’s less stressful having a faculty member here to help me ease through the process rather than being stressed with many unanswered questions.” Although the application is straightforward, the process is long. “The hardest part about it all is facing reality,” says Dana Caracci (’15).

However, once all applications are completed, the stress slowly begins to fade away. College applications are now one less thing to stress over and the reality of college life becomes real. Megan Henry (’15) adds, “I can’t wait for the future!”
