“Eat Bread to Raise Dough”

On Thursday, November 19, Padua’s theatre program held their first Panera night fundraiser. The fundraiser was held at the Fairfax Panera Bread on Concord Pike. By handing in receipts to get a percentage back, Padua students were able to support the theatre program. The proceeds from this fundraiser went towards this year’s musical: Footloose.

Hayley Abernethy, a student producer for the theatre program’s production, helped plan this fundraiser and was pleased with the results, “Panera night this year was a huge success! Despite the ridiculous rain storm, we still had a great turn out with many Padua families, alumnae, students, and teachers coming out to support the musical.” Hayley was shocked at how many people came out to support the theatre program, as well. She says, “At Panera our receipts totaled to be $1,228 which we received $377. This will greatly benefit the production and help us make it the best show we can!”

Padua’s theatre program is four years old, which means the budget for costumes, lights, musicians, and mics isn’t that big. Hayley explains, “Our budget to produce the musical is not very large so we really need donations and fundraising to help make the show a success. Throughout the night we collected receipts from many people who came out to support us, and even strangers were giving us their receipts to help!” Hayley, as well as the entire theatre program, is extremely grateful for everyone who came out to support them and raise funds to help the show be the best one yet!
