Homeroom Representatives taking their Pledge for Office

The students of Padua Academy are blessed in the way that they can have their voices and opinions heard.  One of which is the homeroom elections that take place every September. Students not only have the ability to vote for who they feel will make the best class representative, but every student has the chance to run to be a representative and take charge of their homeroom.  Each homeroom at Padua has two students that represent their homeroom.  The role of a homeroom representative at Padua ranges from gathering papers that must be passed out to their class or representing their homeroom at student council meetings.   Marina P. ‘20, a current homeroom representative for Mr. Lawler’s freshman homeroom, said, “I enjoy having responsibility and hopefully if I do a great job as a representative, I will be able to run for a higher position in student council when I am older.” Marina defined being a good representative as “someone who is responsible and when things must get done, they do.”

Padua Academy has more than 600 girls in attendance and with a school that large everything must be very organized for it to run smoothly. Students must contribute to the “smooth sailing” and homeroom representatives are a big part of that. When asked about what she is most excited about being a homeroom representative, Maggie P. ‘20, another homeroom representative for Mr. Lawler’s homeroom, said, “I am excited to be able to run different events and also I am most excited to take on the responsibility of being a homeroom representative.”
