Victoria A. is a freshman at Padua this year. She is a unique addition to the Padua community, because she moved all the way from Utah to Delaware! Victoria sat down for an interview with Padua 360 and answered some questions about her exciting move across the country.
“I lived in Utah my whole life,” she said. “Or, most of it. I moved to Delaware in fifth grade because my mom remarried a man that lives here. I stayed until seventh grade, and then I moved back to Utah to spend a year there – then moved back to Delaware after my eighth grade year ended.”
If choosing where to go to high school wasn’t hard enough, Victoria had to make the decision from across the country. She explains how she did this by saying, “I already knew of the high school from my two years of living in Delaware. There are no Catholic high schools in my area of Utah, so I was really excited about that. The idea of sisterhood really made the decision for me.”
It sounded like Victoria was really enthusiastic about attending Padua. “It’s a bit different from my old school, because it’s much more of a sort of bonded community.” She also said she didn’t feel that moving locations before high school was a disadvantage because everyone comes from different places and backgrounds. She told us that, “you have to readjust to your surroundings no matter where you come from going into high school.”
However, when asked if she preferred Delaware to Utah or Utah to Delaware, she stated that they were both “equal” to her. The only distinct difference between the two states was that Utah was surrounded by mountains on the north and south side.
With the Padua community by her side, it was easy to adjust to high school and different surroundings. Victoria is sure to have a great four years here in Delaware and especially here at Padua.
