Padua’s Dress Drive

Paduas+Dress+Drive

Padua students are always looking for new ways to get involved. Whether it’s by educating ourselves on topics such as human trafficking, or by being a part of or supporting the Blue Gold club, Padua’s always striving to make a difference in the community. One recent way for Padua students to give back was to participate in Sarah Kunkle’s (‘18) and Caroline Bursler’s (‘18) Dress Drive.

The Dress Drive at Padua Academy asked students and faculty to donate formal dresses, jewelry, and shoes to the Formal Dress Project, a non profit organization that sells formal dresses and attire for very cheap prices to people who can’t afford them. For instance, they will sell formal gowns and dresses for five dollars and evening gowns for ten dollars. Altogether, the Padua community ended up donating 45 dresses.

Caroline Bursler was happy with the results. She said, “We really wanted to give people who couldn’t afford it the opportunity to wear some nice formal clothes. Sometimes, we take these things for granted.” As of right now, they are considering doing the dress drive again next year, but nothing is certain. Hopefully, they’ll be able to host this event again.
