Maza Organization

Over the past week, Annmarie Twum-Danso spread awareness for an organization known as Maza, which is an administration, mainly in Northern Ghana, that focuses on transporting pregnant women to safe hospitals where they will be given the best care. The founder, Nana A.Y. Twum-Danso, felt the need to participate in helping to find systematic solutions to complex problems.

Annmarie brought attention to Maza last week by selling t-shirts in order to raise money for this organization. Anyone who bought a t-shirt was eligible to take part in the dress down on Thursday, February 16. Annmarie worked with the other class officers to sell National Park shirts to raise funds and awareness about the Maza organization. Annmarie said, “I believe that fundraising for Maza was a great experience because I loved the idea of gathering everyone who was eager to help this cause and making a difference for those in Ghana.” The students were able to raise around five hundred dollars for the Maza organization. A junior, Lydia Olivere, who participated said, “It was so kind of Annmarie to set up a fundraiser for the Maza organization. It’s humbling to know that buying something as simple as a t-shirt can go to such a great organization and help others.” By raising this money, Padua Academy was able to give back and help others in need.
