What’s trending this year for the sophomores? Two words: driver’s education. 10th graders at Padua Academy are more than excited to learn the do’s and dont’s of being behind the wheel. The new driver’s education teacher is Ms. Lydnsey Buckingham. Students are eagerly anticipating the freedom and responsibility that comes with being eligible to drive. Jill Ciritella, ’15, stated, “Our teacher, Ms. Buckingham, is very helpful, and she makes the class more fun than I thought it would be.” Students in driver’s education are learning what is required of them, so that they can receive their license. They are also reviewing basic road signs and restrictions for beginning drivers. Incorporated into their lessons are the consequences they could receive if they were to violate the law. This allows the students to really see the responsibilities they take on as young adults starting to drive. “I can’t believe how different it feels being in the driver seat rather than being in the passenger seat,” Karlee Panella, ’15, said after driving for the first time yesterday.
