The 45th annual Country Music Awards were a hit this year. The show began with a comedy routine by hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, typical of all award shows. The two stars took it a step further though, making fun of most country artists who attended. Brad and Carrie even pulled out Faith Hill and Tim McGraw barbie dolls, mocking the famous couple. The audience was still laughing when the first award for best single went to the Band Perry.
The night was filled with star studded performances by country’s biggest names in between awards. The Band Perry dominated the night, winning three CMAs. The newly married couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert also had a successful night and took home male and female vocalist of the year. Taylor Swift beat out all her male competitors to win Entertainer of the Year, the most prestigious of CMA awards. All in all, the night was a rousing success.
The CMAs were much more entertaining than the Emmys or the Oscars. Viewers should tune in for at least a few minutes of the award show next year, country fan or not. If next year’s CMAs are as good as this years, music lovers of any genre are in for a treat.
