About a year ago, the Broadway show “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” took New York City’s Al Hirschfeild Theatre by storm. With it’s hilarious antics, catchy tunes, and phenomenal actors, the show has drawn theatre fans from all over the world. The show’s current cast includes music sensation and Broadway veteran Nick Jonas, Emmy award winning actor Beau Bridges, Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie, Tammy Blanchard, and Rose Hemingway.
When the show kicked off about a year ago world renowned actor Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette made their Broadway debuts, giving the show a great reputation right off the bat. In between Jonas and Radcliffe’s runs, Glee’s Darren Criss starred in the show and received amazing reviews as well. As you can imagine, with this star-studded cast and outstanding script, “How to Succeed” has sold out the theatre many times and is still going strong with it’s eight shows a week.
The story line follows an intelligent young man, J.Pierrepont Finch, who starts out as a window washer and climbs the ladder of success to the very top of a huge corporation. Finch finds a book entitled “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and follows the guidelines and steps carefully as he makes his way to the top. There is just one problem, the CEO’s nephew, Budd Frump, is hoping to score the same position. The secretaries of the corporation also come in play sometimes causing problems for the lovestruck businessmen. In the end, Finch wins it all, scoring the lead position in the office and the lovely secretary wife, Rosemary. Fans wait daily outside the theatre for hours on end just to catch a glimpse of the actors as they leave and get that priceless autograph. Many shops in New York sell posters for the play, and there is a spot in times square with a thirty foot billboard advertising the show. Like many Broadway musicals, “How to Succeed” will leave you with an experience you will never forget.
