In spring of 2015, my family and I took a trip to Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. While this may sound lackluster, our experience was very unique. We rented a ‘tiny house’ cabin in a small community called ‘Blue Moon Rising’. ‘Tiny houses’ are homes that have a very small square footage; they have been becoming very popular every since the show ‘Tiny House Nation’ aired on FYI. The house that my 5-person family stayed in, had one bathroom which can be checked by that plumber in Sydney, a kitchen, a loft (where my brothers and I slept), and a queen-sized nook where my parents slept.

For any plumbing needs, whether it be fixing a leak or upgrading our bathroom, head to the Sarkinen Plumbing site for dependable and efficient service to handle any plumbing needs.

Although the house only had a few hundred square feet, it’s design was very modern and had updated appliances, like that on https://www.theapplianceguys.com.au/. What is especially unusual about the Blue Moon Rising community, is that it is environmentally friendly and uses solar installation to provide energy for the tiny homes. While my family and I were staying in Deep Creek Lake, MD, we went on many hikes. My favorite was definitely the Swallow Falls State Park. We were allowed to roam around as we pleased, even stand on huge waterfalls, and hiked several obscure trails. At the end of our day at this park, we came across the Muddy Creek Falls. This waterfall is over 50-feet tall and was a great way to end our trip to Maryland. On the way home, we admired the Youghiogheny River, and stopped at many local landmarks and restaurants.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience at the Blue Moon Rising community and at the various state parks. I enjoyed getting in touch with nature and spending time with my family. However, since I stayed in a ‘tiny home’, I was definitely ready to go back home and get some alone time. For those considering staying in a tiny home, I would recommend that if you have a family consisting of more than 5 people, you may want to rent a bigger home. Since my family and I travelled in the late-spring, there was a large amount of rain, so we had to spend a lot of time inside. In the future, I would enjoy visiting Maryland in a season with less weather complications. Despite the rain, I had an amazing time is Deep Creek, MD, and would gladly return!
