So what if a child who is forced into the LRA disobeys Kony or the commanders? He or she is forced have their noses, lips, and/or ears sliced off. Then they are actually told to eat their own flesh.
What is Kony’s interpretation of the Bible? As a Catholic school ourselves, surely everything Kony has done must violate each of the commandments in the Bible, although Kony claims to obey them all. Kony explains he gets advice from eight angels, three American, two Sudanese, and one Congolese. This is a prime example of how some can misinterpret God’s plan and message for us.
It’s quite obvious Joseph Kony must be stopped. The organization, Invisible Children, has a goal to stop Kony. As the video on Youtube, “Kony 2012” mentions, Invisible Children is targeting 20 celebrities, athletes, and billionaires to make Kony “famous.” Invisible Children wants Kony’s name to be heard or mentioned by these influential people to spark curiosity and create awareness for people. Then, Invisible Children is targeting 20 policy makers to “make it happen.” Their website gives all visitors the ability to write to these policy makers, meet with them, or call them. Invisible Children is determined to have Kony captured and arrested.
What Invisible Children wants the people of America to do is quite simple. On April 20, 2012, they strove to “Cover the Night.” They met in various cities throughout the world at sundown and covered every street and city in posters to raise awareness of Kony. Of course, they abided by the law and did not vandalize. They explain, “We are smart and we are thorough.”
Invisible Children’s project to arrest Joseph Kony has reminded millions of Americans that living in a free country gives us the freedom to have a say in our government. It gives us the freedom to speak our ideas. It gives us the freedom to lend out a helping hand to a country in need. We can help Uganda, no matter our age or our place in society. We will stop at nothing.
