The Freshman Retreat

The 2013 freshman retreat was held on December 17th. At 8:15 in the morning, the freshman walked over to the near-by Westminster Presbyterian church. The theme for the retreat was to be the best you that you can be. Many games and fun activities were played. One activity was a game where each had to find four unique things that all members had in common, and then write them on a piece of paper. Two members of each group would then stand up and present what their group had in common. Another fun game was a game where a question was asked, such as what is your birth month, and then everyone had form a group with people who had the same answer. Along with all of the fun and games, there was also plenty of time for freshman to stop and contemplate how they feel about Padua and what they have learnt so far this year about who they truly are and about who others are.

During the retreat, the freshman were divided into 17 groups. Two junior leaders were assigned to each group. They helped lead each activity and helped their group members bond as friends. The juniors also preformed a skit that show the values of being unique instead of just going with the flow. As they gave helpful tips to all the freshman that will help them throughout their years at Padua, they also helped create a stronger sisterhood amongst them. The main idea that should be taken away from the retreat is that you should always. Be who you are, and be that well – Saint Francis of Cici
