The Padua volleyball team is midway through their season, and they are dominating the court. With new head coach Lauren DiSabatino and captains Sarah Landry, Lauren Summa, and Erica Engler leading the team, they are headed straight for the state tournament. The team is 7-0 for the season and their next game is against St. Marks on Thursday October 11th.
Tuesday night was one of Padua’s biggest games of the season. Senior captain Sarah Landry said before this game against Ursuline, “Tonight is going to be one of our hardest games we are going to have this season but if we play like Padua volleyball I know that we can do it”. Sarah was right and the team beat Ursuline in four games. During the game Jen Borio got 15 kills, libero Lauren Summa had 39 digs, and Sarah Cushing had an amazing 44 assists along with 8 digs and 3 blocks. This upset had all the fans cheering and on their feet the whole night. After Padua won the first game and Ursuline came back in the second, it was all up to the girls to finish the game without letting Ursuline come back. Despite Ursuline’s comeback in the second game, the girls gave it their all and fought to win the next two.
The team has four more catholic conference games coming up and the team is focused on defeating these rivals. In order for the team to be successful with these upcoming games, the team will work extra hard in their practices. Coach DiSabatino hopes that the team will continue to work hard throughout the rest of the season and make it to the state tournament. All of Padua is extremely proud of how the team is performing and are looking forward to their upcoming games.
