The last sports season of the school year began on March 2nd. Two of the schools spring sports, track and field and tennis, are ready for another successful season.
Track
Track and field is coming off of a State Championship win and they have been working hard to defend their title. Senior captain Sarah O’Connor said, “If we keep working hard and if we keep pushing ourselves during workouts, then I think that we will be able to win another state championship.” The girls go through tough workout sessions, lifting weights and running long distances. Many of the girls are exhausted after practice but they say that it is worth it. On the schedule, the girls have 18 track meets which start on March 27th. Tennis
Tennis is in its first season as a sport at Padua. Last year the team was just a club, but now they will be participating in actual matches. There are many new girls trying out for the team. Senior Becca Kowalski is excited for her first season on the team. She said, “I am really looking forward to the first match.” Since the team has never played before, this will be a major feat for Padua athletics. There are 5 matches on the schedule and the first match is on April 11th.
