On Wednesday, March 4, the Padua Academy soccer team made their way to the gym at St. Anthony’s to begin their tryouts after two days of bad weather and cancellation. Unfortunately, the team was not able to train for the next two days due to another snow storm which brought up to 9 inches into some parts of Delaware. Following the storm, the team met both Saturday and Sunday night to continue training.

At each of the tryouts, players participated in a number of skill related drills, scrimmages, and fitness training. On Sunday, the weather was nice enough for the players to actually go outside, run and do a few drills while enjoying the warm weather. Victoria Anderson (‘18) says that the tryouts were challenging but fun. She states, “I am very happy to start the soccer program here at Padua because everyone is nice and encouraging. I’m excited for the upcoming season.”

The soccer team completed their final tryout on Monday, March 9 at Hockessin Soccer Club, and is now finally able to train outdoors.
