Rowing to Nationals

Padua offers a host of terrific spring sports. One of these is crew. Many Padua girls row for Newport Rowing Club, one of several rowing clubs in Wilmington.

Freshman Becca Miller was a novice this year. She said that, despite the fact that it was her first year, she had a great time and learned a lot. Her favorite part, Becca said, was making new friends and meeting new people. She enjoyed seeing the group grow as a team, and is excited for summer season and next year.

Freshman Maddie Maier was on varsity this year. She said her favorite part of this season was the high levels of competition. She also enjoyed growing as a team with the other girls, and doing better each season. Maddie loves crew and plans to continue into college. She says that crew is “one of the hardest things you will do, but it will bring you a sense of accomplishment, especially if you are a competitive person”.

The varsity team has had a very successful season. Five Padua girls are headed to Sarasota Florida from June 11-15 for nationals, where they will compete against other teams from around the country. Good luck girls!
