The Television and Video production class began at Padua for the 2011-2012 school year. Students in this class are producing a weekly television news program that consists of news about the school, information about the world around us, and stories about girls just like us.
As the months of school have progressed, the T.V. room and class have progressed significantly. The students have gotten organized and have learned many new things about leadership and how to run a show on their own.
Even before this year started, the T.V. room was already under construction. It took all summer to put together the T.V. room. Mr. Leizear was at Padua for one week in July and all of August. Brother Mike also helped all during summer with setting up the room. When Mr. Leizear was interviewed, he said that he wanted to do a class like this for a long time. He also said, “Mr. Beno and I basically planned a Communications Arts program. I started the T.V. class and he started the Multimedia Journalism class.” The Communications Arts program operates as a set of electives under the English department.
Mr. Leizear purchased all of the equipment from B&H Video in New York. He went to their studio and talked to advisers on how to set up the classroom. They helped Mr. Leizear get all of the correct equipment and told him how to set it all up. To get all of the money for the equipment, Mr. Leizear explained that, “Mrs. Mann was very generous and helped out a lot with getting the equipment.”
In conclusion, Mr. Leizear said that, “So far this is a very successful class. As the years progress,we will all learn more and get better at this.” Mr. Leizear seemed very proud of this class and his students. He said, “I think and hope that the students like this class.” Check out PATV on the front page of Padua360.com.
