Earth is celebrated on April 22 worldwide. Earth Day was founded by founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin and it was organized by Denis Hayes in 1969. Senator Nelson created Earth Day because he became worried about our planet and why people aren’t caring anymore. In 1969, the senator decided to raise awareness by creating a day where people would spend the whole day dedicated to teach people about the ways we needed to change the planet to improve the environment. On april 22, 1970, was when the first Earth Day was held. Yesterday, there was a Earth Day on the national green where students and adults all came together to voice their appreciation for the planet and demand protection of it. Some acts people performed at this event included cheap trick, kicking daisies, and Dave Mason.
