“I Just Kind of Fell Into It”

Mrs. Kardos is Padua’s new nurse. She went to Hodgson Vo-Tech for high school and University of Delaware for college. When asked about why she decided to pursue nursing, she said, “I kind of fell into it. When I went to Hodgson I did the nursing program that they offer and when I went to college I didn’t really know what else I wanted to do so I figured I would stay with what I did know.”

She loved the program mainly because she was able to find what she truly loves doing: caring for others and helping them to get better. Mrs. Kardos says that her favorite thing about being a school nurse is helping the student community feel better when they are sick. The only thing she considers a downside to being the school nurse is all the germs she encounters. She says, “I seem to get everything that comes through that door.”

Mrs Kardos says her favorite thing about working at Padua is the diversity in the student population. She added, “I also love meeting new people everyday, there are so many. Everyone here is so different and unique.”

Aside from helping students when they are sick, Mrs Kardos has two children that she loves taking care of. She says, “I have two little ones at home that keep me busy.” She says she loves them, although they may drive her crazy at times. Between helping Padua students feel better and taking care of her two little kids, she doesn’t have a lot of time on her hands. Mrs. Kardos is excited for the upcoming school year, and the years to come.
