On October 4, 2011, Padua’s junior class ventured out into the community to serve our local brothers and sisters in need. The places our girls visited included the Ministry of Caring Childcare, Mom’s House, Birthright of Delaware, Riverside Adult Day Program, the Clothing Bank, and the Food Bank. Some of our students shared about their experiences:
MOC Childcare
“I helped teachers with giving lunch, and played with the kids outside, and put some kids down for a nap. It was a really fun experience.”
-Beckie K.
Mom’s House
“I took care of little 6-month-old babies, and was able to play with them. We also decorated Mom’s House.”
-Kelly H.
Birthright of Delaware
“I had a wonderful experience and I helped by doing yard work.”
-Markia D.
Clothing Bank
“I sorted clothes into piles, I had a really fun time. I enjoyed helping people.”
-Ella F.
Riverside Adult Day Program
“I created scarecrows with the residents, and I assisted our supervisor pass out lunch.”
-Rebecca R.
Food Bank
“I stacked boxes and organized food packages into categories. I really enjoyed helping because I realized how many people go hungry. All that food we packaged went out to hungry people in Delaware. It was a great learning experience.”
