Junior retreat was a chance for the class of 2013 to reflect on their newest responsibilities as upperclassmen. This upcoming year is important for the junior class, and the retreat helped everyone to focus on working hard and leading the school by example.
The day began with a fun icebreaker which got the class up and moving. After the icebreaker, a few juniors lead the class in a Scripture reading and prayer. The juniors then discussed the Scripture in small groups. Throughout the day, the juniors stayed in their small groups, allowing them to make closer bonds with their classmates. After lunch, the class tried out a leadership activity. Each group was given a stack of newspapers and masking tape, and was instructed to build something that could hold a gallon of water. However, the girls had to do the activity in complete silence, meaning that everyone needed to step up and be a leader to get the activity successfully done. Most groups were successful and were able to see how important leadership really is. The activity introduced the Juniors to their new role as upperclassmen.
The retreat was a great way to strengthen the bonds between sisters and introduce the class to what being a leader really means.
