Recently Padua Academy’s Interact Club has performed several acts of service. They have sponsored a food drive to benefit Wilmington families in need of Thanksgiving dinner. The students were challenged to bring in enough canned goods to bury Mrs. Manelski in her office. Together the school collected hundreds of boxed potatoes, stuffing, pasta, cereal, and other goods.
On November 19, Patricia Barton (12’) along with the Caesar-Rodney Rotary members helped pack the food collected for the families so they could have a bountiful Thanksgiving. Thanks to the generosity of the school we were able to help 125 families in Wilmington celebrate a wonderful Thanksgiving and many days to come.
Padua students also participated in “Stockings For Soldiers,” service night on December 1st. “Stockings For Soldiers” is a community project that involves sending stockings to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. This year over 10,000 stockings were sent to our brave men and women. Along with stockings, over 10,000 personal greeting cards and letters of appreciation from children from several different schools including Padua were sent. Three post office tractor trailers sent out the 1,500 boxes off to the troops. For some troops the only gift they will receive this year is the stocking. We are all so thankful for your generosity in responding to this very real need in our community.
