During the bustling activity period every Friday, over 50 students meet in Roberto Hall for Blue Gold. The activity is lead by Mrs. Kowalski and Ms. Anderson and students range from freshman to seniors. Padua’s Blue Gold committee works with DFRC, Special Olympics, Project Unify, Down Syndrome Association, and Best Buddies. The committee organizes events such as the Pie Auction, Bingo Night, Blue Gold Week, Blue Gold Prom, and the Christmas Party to help support these groups. They also volunteer at Special Olympics events such as the Bowling Tournament, Buddy Walks, and the Reindeer Run. Their first event is the Pie Auction, held on November 20th, which helps raise funding for other events that Blue Gold will be organizing this year. Following the Pie Auction is the Blue Gold Christmas Party on December 1st, which always has a great turnout.
Blue Gold is an organization that raises awareness and provides funding for students with cognitive disabilities. Most of the money that the Blue Gold raises goes to the DFRC, which is a foundation dedicated to raising funds and consciousness in support of programs that enrich the lives of Delawareans with intellectual disABILITIES. By Blue Gold raising money, they help establish friendships between Padua girls and those with special needs, and offer a safe and loving environment for these students.
