The Padua Interact Club is an organization committed to serving the local and global communities. They are sponsored by a local Rotary Club that assists them in their efforts. Senior Interact leader Kelly Gallagher ‘13 said, “We try to help out anyone in need, usually local places, such as Ingleside Retirement Home, the Rotary Club during Thanksgiving, the Salvation Army during Christmas, and Fleece for Keeps. We try to help out other organizations as well, upon request, so sometimes we hold bake sales to raise money for other organizations.” The Interact club is moderated by Ms. Lammert. The members work hard and serve the community in every way possible.
Making a Difference
The Interact Club reaches out to many associations and charities. One of their first tasks of the year was to make blankets for foster children. On November 19th, the club made blankets for foster children through the organization Fleece for Keeps. Fleece for Keeps seeks to provide love and strength for foster children in the state of Delaware by making “tie” blankets out of two large pieces of fleece. During activity period, the Interact Club took on this challenge and made eight blankets. Kelly Gallagher said, “I presented the idea to the Interact Club and they thought it would be a fun activity to do during activity period. We all agreed that it was a more than worthy cause to help out, and it’s very gratifying knowing that something that you made all on your own is going to a child in need.” It may not seem like a big deal, but expressing a little bit of love can give someone, especially those in need, strength.
