When preparing for the Christmas season, giving back to a heartfelt cause is one thing that someone might definitely want consider contributing to. From the morning to noon of December 16th, 2012, Padua faculty, staff, students, and their families and friends were all invited to give back to Ronalds Rescue, a service organization at Padua Academy that works to contribute time and funds to Ronald McDonald House, by donating five dollars for admission to the annual Pancake Breakfast for the Christmas season.
Volunteer Padua students started serving pancakes and waiting on guests in the cafetorium at 9:30 am and didn’t stop going until the event came to a slow end around 12:30. Condiments of syrup and butter and beverages including orange juice, water, and coffee were served and accessible throughout the room to complete the breakfast.
Padua students and staff had even more in store though, aside from a delicious meal. Raffle tickets were available to purchase the whole morning for a raffle of miscellaneous gift cards ranging from $10 to $100. The raffle took place at about noon and had many family members smiling from winning great prizes. To top it all off, a large variety of Padua spirit wear and merchandise was also put out on the cafetorium stage during the whole event for last minute Christmas purchases.
“I thought that the pancake breakfast went really well,” said volunteer sophomore student Emily Sanzone who worked serving pancakes and refreshments. “I noticed that there was a good amount of people, so I think we raised a lot of money; everyone also looked like they were all having fun the whole time which made me happy to be helping. The only part that was a bit stressful was when we ran out of pancake mix, but in the end we had more than enough pancakes left over!”
At the end of the morning, Padua had a great deal of students and their friends and families leaving full and happy. The 2012 Pancake Breakfast was a great holiday fundraiser and an overall success!
