Journalism: The Class Behind Padua 360
At Padua, students have many opportunities to learn more in depth about the communications world. Some of the Communication Arts classes include: Television and Video Production, Publication Design, and Multimedia Journalism. All of these classes are an active staple within the Padua school building. In TV production, students enrolled in the class script and film Padua’s daily homeroom show. Those students in Publication Design will take pictures for and build the yearbook, and students in Multimedia Journalism will write for the school’s online newspaper. “Being part of Padua360 last year shaped my writing in a huge way. I learned how to meet deadlines, conduct interviews, and work with all kinds of people in the Padua community”, says Junior Grace C.
Made up of all grades, not only do students in journalism write articles, but they also have the option to make short videos, infographics, photo galleries, and reviews. Students are encouraged to cover current events in Padua, such as service opportunities and annual traditions, as well as pop culture. “ My favorite part of the class was writing stories that I knew would have an impact on the reader by showing them something they couldn’t or wouldn’t see on their own”, says Grace.
