Yearbook Distribution: 2017 Theme Revealed
May 10, 2017
On Monday May 8th, the Publication Design class distributed yearbooks to Padua students and staff. Throughout the entire year, the yearbook staff has been working diligently on the book, all while keeping the theme a secret. “During an 80 minute period, the entire class had a brainstorming session during which we talked through different ideas that could possibly work as a theme and then decided on our favorite one,” says Caitlin O. ‘17. Students were given the opportunity to finally look through the long awaited memento. The name of Padua’s 2016-2017 yearbook is “Be Yourself”, and aspects of that theme are kept throughout the book.
The table of contents is broken down into the categories “Be Unique”, “Be Exceptional”, “Be Passionate”, “Be Determined”, and “Be Unforgettable”. These categories represent Padua’s academics, service, spirituality, sports, and memories. “We wanted to stick with the theme of ‘Be Yourself’ throughout the book but we wanted to change it up a little bit so we came up with different adjectives that seemed to represent each section,” says Caitlin. There are featured pages in the book such as senior cards, faculty candids, sophomore service, and junior ring mass. “My favorite part of making the yearbook was being able to see everyone’s reactions when we passed them out,” says Caitlin. This is the 61st yearbook Padua has produced, and through it students can visualize how the Padua community always changes, but our values and mission still remains.
