What made you want to play a sport in college?

Katie Halley who has been awarded first team all state and all Catholic in her senior year said, “Running has become something I look forward to every day. I love getting to put in the work daily to help myself accomplish a bigger goal. I also love being part of a team to work for something bigger than myself. I believe that playing sports will make my college years so much more meaningful and fun.”

What would be a successful season for you?

“A successful season for me is one that my team does well. Obviously, it means a lot when I have a good race or get a personal best, but when the whole team does well, everyone is happy and it makes me want to do better. A team win is always more exciting than an individual win.”

Sports in college are a lot more competitive and time consuming than in high school, how do you plan on balancing it with school work?

Katie said Padua has prepared her well with time management and she will carry those skills with her to college. “I definitely think that balancing school work and running is going to be difficult, especially being a nursing major, but not impossible.”

What are you looking forward to the most in college?

“I am mostly looking forward to meeting different people in college. The thought of next year excites me because I don’t really know what’s in store, but I am excited to find out. College is a new level of competition and I am looking forward to new challenges that will make me a better athlete. I am also just excited for the different classes I’ll get to take because I love science and can’t wait to learn everything I need to become a nurse and help other people.”
