SALSthon 2019: Partnering with Limen House

February 24, 2019

The students of Salesianum, Padua, and Ursuline have decided to partner with Limen House, a non-profit residential treatment program in Wilmington, for SALSthon 2019. Last year SALSthon raised a total of $173,148.87 for CHILD Inc. an organization that helped women and children in need. “We can’t do this without you!” is the slogan for the event this year. The funds will go towards helping those struggling with addiction to get back on their feet and reconnect with their families.

“We chose this organization because addiction is something that affects so many people in our community, and we’re very hopeful that our money can impact them in a big way” said Maureen Haffey, member of Student Council.

Limen house has four houses in Wilmington, two for men and two for women. It provides counseling and a twelve step program that is completely free because they believe everyone should have a chance at recovery and the money raised will help Limen House provide the help their residents need to be able to focus on a strong recovery

In their efforts to help those in the community live a healthy, sober life, the members of Sallies, Padua, and Ursuline’s Student Council urge everyone to help support Limen House. Haffey said “We are really encouraging people to sign up for the Challenge250, when you sign up and raise $250 (or more) you get a free ticket to SALSthon and you help us get one step closer to reaching our goal!”

While buying a ticket does help fund the dance, it is the money raised from Challenge250 that goes directly into supporting Limen House. You can make an account on the fundraising page, https://salsthon.org/ , and either raise the money alone or create a team and set a goal.

Donations to help support a Limen House resident can also be made here: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/salsthon/donate/$75 can help provide a resident for one full day, $150 for two full days, $225 for three days, $525 for one full week, and $1,050 will support a resident for two full weeks.

SALSthon 2019 will be held from Saturday Apr 6th to Sunday, Apr 7th. This is an event that is more than just a dance, it will aid those fighting addiction have a place to turn to for help. Funds from SALSThon 2019 will provide Limen House with the tools they need to help those in the community get better and healthy. Joining in Challenge250, tweeting, posting on social media, or donating to Limen House are all ways in which students and the community can help in changing someone’s life for the better.
