Monday October 1st marked the launch of Padua’s first ever live TV broadcasting channel. Padua’s Television and Video Production classes have been working towards a live morning show for over two years. The class, taught by our own Mr. Leizear, meets first period every day and will produce the daily morning show which will air during homeroom. To celebrate the launch, Padua alum, Pat Ciarrocchi, also known as the host for Talk Philly on channel 3, made a special guest appearance. The students reported on Padua sports news, and interviewed Ms. Ciarrocchi about Padua’s influence on her life and career. Then in true Padua fashion, Father Roberto blessed the new television studio, named in honor Pat Ciarrocchi. Along with reporting the daily news, the winner of the 1st annual Ciarrocchi Broadcasting Scholarship was announced. Alexis Graham was the lucky recipient of a $500 grant for her achievement in Communication Arts. The PATV anchor, Maggie Fassano was extremely pleased with the outcome of the first live broadcast. Maggie (’12) said, “I was really excited for the broadcast because Pat Ciarrocchi is my idol! I was so excited to meet her but I was also really nervous to read the intro I wrote myself. But In the end the broadcast went well!” The entire Padua community is looking forward to more great broadcasts to come this year!
